Australia Tour of India 2023: India vs Australia 3rd T20I Preview

India and Australia will lock horns in the 3rd T20I of the five-match series at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Tuesday. The Men in Blue are currently leading the series 2-0 after registering comprehensive victories in the first two matches. A win in the third T20I will seal an unassailable lead for India in the series. Australia, on the other hand, will be desperate to avoid a whitewash and keep the

For Indian cricket fans, the past week has been a rollercoaster of emotions. The highly anticipated World Cup trophy, which seemed destined to be India’s third in the 50-over format, took an unexpected turn at the last minute, becoming Australia’s sixth. A cynic might argue that the excitement surrounding the IPL is merely a distraction from the national team’s disappointing World Cup performance. However, the international cricket played in Trivandrum and Vizag since that fateful Sunday has been anything but a distraction.

India, along with every other nation except Australia, has little time to dwell on their World Cup performance, as another is just seven months away. Tuesday’s match will be India’s third of only 11 matches in preparation for the T20 World Cup, which will be held in the USA and West Indies next June.series alive.

India has been in scintillating form in the series so far. Their top order has been firing on all cylinders, with Ishan Kishan and Ruturaj Gaikwad scoring half-centuries in both matches. The middle order has also chipped in with valuable contributions, while the bowling department has been equally impressive. Axar Patel and Ravi Bishnoi have been particularly effective with the ball.

Australia has been struggling to find their rhythm in the series. Australia may still be basking in the afterglow of their World Cup victory, but next year’s tournament holds even greater significance. They broke their World Cup drought in this format in 2021, but they failed to make the semifinals the following year. The 2024 World Cup is therefore another opportunity to fill this section of their trophy cabinet, which is rather empty compared to the rest. However, their start to this mission has been shaky, losing two consecutive matches while both setting and chasing targets. They have, of course, only slowly been bringing back a few of their World Cup regulars, while other stalwarts like Warner, Cummins, Starc, Cameron Green, and Mitchell Marsh have taken a well-deserved break.

Their batting has been below par, and their bowlers have been unable to contain the Indian batsmen. They will need to make significant improvements in all departments if they want to win the 3rd T20I and stay in the series.
