Bangladesh and New Zealand came against each other in the 1st match of the ODI at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka. Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bowl first.

Finn Allen and Will Young came to bat and Mustafizur opened the bowling attack. In the 5th over, rain came after the third ball and Finn Allen finished the over with a four, which was the first boundary of the match. In the 7th over, Finn Allen got out after scoring 9(20) on the first ball. In the 9th over, Bowes got out after scoring 1(3) on the second ball. After 10 overs, NZ was at 26-2.

In the 16th over, NZ reached 50 runs on the fourth ball. In the 19th over, Nicholls took a single on the third ball and the partnership between Will Young and Henry Nicholls reached 50 runs. In the 25th over, Will Young finished the over with a six. After 25 overs, NZ was at 97-2.

 

In the 26th over, Nicholls hit a four on the fifth ball. In the 27th over, Will Young took a single on the first ball and scored a half century. In the 28th over, Nicholls hit a four on the fourth ball and got out after scoring 44(57) on the next ball. In the 31th over, Will Young got out after scoring 58(91) on the first ball and Ravindra got out for a duck on the fourth ball. In the 34th over, McConchie hit a four on the fourth ball and rain came back on the next ball.

 

Rain was coming on and off and after a few inspections, the umpire decided to call off the day. The first match of the series ended with no result.
