England Thrashed Ireland by 10 Wickets in the Only Test Match 

England and Ireland came against each other for the only Test match at Lord’s, London. England won the toss and decided to bowl first.

Ireland’s opener James McCollum and Moor came to bat in the first innings and Broad opened the bowling attack. Ireland didn’t have a great start as they lost Moor in the fifth over. He scored 10(12) and gave his wicket to Broad. Skipper Balbirnie came to bat but returned to pavilion for a duck. Harry Tector came next and returned to the pavilion on his first ball. It was two-in-two for Broad.

Stirling and James McCollum made a partnership of 45 runs for the fourth wicket. Jack Leach broke this partnership by sending Stirling to the pavilion. Stirling contributed 30(35) to the Ireland score card. When James McCollum was looking set, Broad sent his pavilion at a personal score of 36(108). In cricket, it is said that one brings two, so Tucker also returned 4 overs.

In the lower order, Curtis Campher played a beautiful knock and reached their team at a respective total. No one capitalize the good start into the big innings. Ireland got all out at 172 runs. Broad was the most successful bowler with fifer, followed by Jack Leach (3) and Matthew Potts (2).

English opener Zak Crawley and Duckett came to bat and Mark Adair opened the bowling attack. England continued their baseball approach and played very fast. Both the openers gave them a great start and made a partnership of 100 runs. Zak Crawley scored a half-century before half century and Fionn Hand took his wicket. Duckett and Ollie Pope made a partnership of 252 runs.

Duckett got out in the 60th over after scoring 182(178). He scored with a strike rate of 102.25 and hit 24 fours and one six in his innings. After this wicket, Root came to bat and made a partnership of 146 runs for the third wicket with Duckett. Root fell on Andy McBrine after scoring 56(59). Pope was holding the strike on the other hand and scored a double hundred before getting out. He scored 205(208) with a strike rate of 98.56 and hit 22 fours and 3 sixes. He got out in the 83rd over and England declared their innings at 524-4 and took a lead of 352 runs. Andy McBrine was the most successful bowler with 2 wickets, followed by Hume and Fionn Hand, they shared one wicket each.

Irish opener Peter Moor and James McCollum came to bat and Stuart Broad opened the bowling attack. Once again, they had a bad start as opener Moor returned to the pavilion in the 7th over after scoring 11(21). James McCollum retired hurt after scoring 12(26). Once again, skipper Andrew Balbirnie returned to the pavilion without making much contribution. Paul Stirling became the third victim of Josh Tongue in the 64th over.

After this wicket, Harry Tector and Tucker made a partnership for the fifth wicket. Harry Tector became the fourth victim of Josh Tongue and scored 51(98) before getting out. When Ireland was in trouble, Andy McBrine and Mark Adair took care of Ireland’s innings as they made a partnership of 163 runs. Ireland scored 326-9 and took a lead of 10 runs.

England came to chase 11 runs and Crawley won the match for their team by hitting three sixes. England won the match by 10 wickets.
