FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023: Brazil Thrashed Panama by 4-0 as Ary Borges Scored Hat-trick

Brazil Women beat Panama, Women, 4-0 in their opening Women’s World Cup Group F match in Adelaide thanks to a hat-trick from Ary Borges; Brazil star Marta makes a late cameo appearance to play in the sixth World Cup finals.

Brazil opened their tournament with a 4-0 victory over Panama, who were playing in their first Women’s World Cup, while Ary Borges made her debut with an emotional hat-trick.

Despite not being among the favorites for this summer’s competition, the eighth-ranked team in the world occasionally displayed their South American samba style, with a particularly standout goal coming just after halftime.

By that time, Borges had already plucked a double from a pair of Tamires crosses, the first of which had brought her to tears. After some slick one-touch play, she then gave Beatriz Zaneratto the opportunity to score for the third.

The Racing Louisville forward, determined to complete her hat trick, headed the ball through Yenith Bailey’s legs to win the game.

Brazil now leads Group F by two points after achieving their largest opening win at a Women’s World Cup since 2007.
