FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023: Morocco Reached the last 16 After Beating Colombia 1-0

After defeating Colombia, Morocco made their debut in the Women’s World Cup and advanced to the round of 16; nonetheless, the South Americans advanced as the winners of Group H.

As a result of Germany’s defeat by South Korea, Morocco advances as runners-up to the knockout stages.The single goal came from a rebound, when captain GhizlaneChebbak’s penalty was saved. Anissa Lahmari scored.

After defeating the Germans 6-0 in their opening round, Morocco went on to win their next matches. They will take on France in Adelaide.Colombia, who finished ahead of Morocco on goal differential after winning their first two games, will take on Jamaica in Melbourne earlier on August 8.

Seven of the eight 2023 Women’s World Cup debutants had already left the competition before this match. Only Philippines had a chance of making it to the final round after defeating the co-hosts New Zealand and Portugal, who gave the USA a real scare.

Come on over, Morocco. After suffering a crushing defeat in their World Cup debut, Reynaud Pedros’ team bounced back to defeat South Korea and Colombia with two strong showings to advance historically to the round of 16.

IbtissamJraidi’s third-minute shot was deflected by Catalina Perez at the near post, and Chebbak nearly caught the goalkeeper off guard from a well-worked corner. They got out to a fast start here and continued to seem the more dangerous team until they took the lead.
