FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023: Switzerland and Norway End the Match in a Scoreless Draw

At the FMG Stadium Waikato in New Zealand on Tuesday, the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup continued with a titanic showdown between Group A’s Switzerland and Norway.

Attacker and current Ballon d’Or winner Ada Hegerberg of Norway was seen returning to the team’s changing room just before the game began. The game ended in a stalemate since Norway struggled to score offensively without Hegerberg playing, but they were able to keep Switzerland scoreless as well. Switzerland, the only unbeaten team in Group A after two games, needs just a point to advance, while a victory will ensure first place.

With a loss to the co-hosts, they might still advance to the knockout rounds, but it would require a close loss and draws from the other two teams in their group.

Norway needs to defeat Philippines with just one point after two games for any hope of moving on to the round of 16.

A victory with a score difference of two goals will be sufficient to ensure their progression to the knockout stages, but after their triumph against New Zealand earlier today, the matchup against the team with the lowest ranking in Group A appears to be more difficult.

The fact that Hegerberg has only five days until their last group game will also cause concern for Norway.
