India: The Second Ever Team in the Cricket History to Become the No.1 Team

India is playing the three match ODI series against Australia on their home ground and defeated them in the first ODI match by 5 wickets. With this win, India displaced Pakistan from the no.1 ranking in the ODI format. However, India were in first place in the shortest and longest format of cricket. In T20I, Men in Blue lead England and Australia is right behind them in Test.

In recent times, the position of teams has changed several times, and Australia and Pakistan both reached to the top of the points table. On the other hand, India were at second position despite winning the Asia Cup final with a huge margin. But, their win in the first match ensures India will go ahead of their arch-rivals after reaching 116 points.

Moreover, despite the lack of success in the shooter and longer format of the game, India is at the top of the table. In the past two World Test Championship finals, India lost the match against New Zealand and Australia, respectively. Men in Blue also struggled in the T20 World Cup final.

In the last match, Australia posted 276 runs on the scoreboard after India invited them to bat first after winning the toss. Shami took five wickets in the match, followed by Bumrah, Ashwin, and Jadeja.

Indian batters came to chase, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shubman Gill gave them a great start for the first wicket. Both the batter scored a half-century and got out. Suryakumar Yadav and KL Rahul made sure that India won the match. After this win, India reached the first place and became the second team in cricket history after South Africa to achieve the top place in all formats
