IPL 2023: Punjab Kings Got Eliminated From Playoffs’ Race; Lost to RR by 4 Wickets

Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals came against each other in the 66th match of IPL 2023 at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala. Rajasthan Royals won the toss and decided to bowl first.

Prabhsimran and Dhawan came to bat and Trent Boult opened the bowling attack. In the 1st over, Prabhsimran got out after scoring 2(2) on the second ball. In the 2nd over, Dhawan hit two boundaries and Atharva Taide finished the over with a four. In the 3rd over, Atharva Taide hit a six on the second ball and Dhawan hit a four on the fourth ball. In the 4th over, Atharva Taide hit back-to-back two fours and got out after scoring 19(12) on the fourth ball and Livingstone finished the over with a four. In the 6th over, Dhawan got out after scoring 17(12) on the third ball. After 6 overs, PBKS was at 48-3.

In the 7th over, PBKS reached 50 runs on the first ball and Livingstone got out after scoring 9(13) on the third ball.  In the 10th over, Jitesh Sharma hit a six on the second ball and finished the over with a six. In the 13th over, Jitesh Sharma took a single on the last ball and PBKS reached 100 runs. In the 14th over, Jitesh Sharma hit back-to-back three boundaries and got out after scoring 44(28) on the fifth ball. After 15 overs, PBKS was at 117-5.

In the 19th over, Shahrukh Khan started the over with back-to-back two boundaries and Sam Curran hit back-to-back three boundaries, including back-to-back two sixes. In the 20th over, Shahrukh Khan started the over with a four and hit back-to-back two boundaries. 

In 20 overs, Punjab Kings scored 187 runs with a loss of 5 wickets.

Chasing 188 runs, Jaiswal and Buttler came to bat and Sam Curran opened the bowling attack. In the 1st over, Jaiswal hit back-to-back three fours. In the 2nd over, Buttler got out for a duck and Padikkal started his innings with a four. In the 6th over, Padikkal smashed back-to-back two boundaries. After 6 overs, RR was 57-1.

In the 10th over, Padikkal hit a six on the third ball, scored a half-century on the next ball with a double and got out after scoring 51(30) on the fifth ball. In the 11th over, Samson got out after scoring 2(3) on the fifth ball. In the 12th over, Hetmyer hit a six on the fourth ball and Jaiswal finished the over with a four. In the 13th over, Hetmyer started the over with a six and Jaiswal finished the over with a four. In the 14th over, Hetmyer started the over with a six, Jaiswal hit a four on the fourth ball and Hetmyer finished the over with a four. In the 15th over, Jaiswal scored a half-century on the first ball and got out after scoring on the third ball 50(36). After 15 overs, RR was 141-4.

In the 17th over, Hetmyer hit a four and RR reached 150 runs on the first ball. In the 18th over, Riyan Parag hit back-to-back two sixes and got out after scoring 20(12) on the last ball. In the 19th over, Hetmyer started the over with a four, hit a four on the fourth ball and got out after scoring 46(28) on the fifth ball. Dhruv Jurel hit the winning six, RR scored 189-6 and won the match by 4 wickets.
