Ireland vs Zimbabwe, 3rd ODI: Ireland Bagged the Historic Series Win Against Zimbabwe; Won by 7 Wickets

The third ODI of Zimbabwe vs Ireland was played at Harare Sports Club. Ireland won the toss and opted to bowl first. Ireland’s bowling attack has been very effective in keeping Zimbabwe to a very modest total. Gumbie gave Zimbabwe a strong start, but Sikandar Raza’s arrival provided the necessary backing from the opposite side. Gumbie and the captain shared a noteworthy partnership for the fourth wicket, adding 69 runs. The weather delay caused the play to be shortened to 40 overs-a-side after more than two hours were wasted. Before and after the rain break, Campher and Hume struck frequently, and Zimbabwe’s innings was never able to get the momentum in their favor. Masakadza made a late-inning cameo that brought the home team closer to the 200-run threshold.

Ireland lost Stirling early in their chase for201, but Balbirnie and Campher stabilized the batting, and Tector and Tucker then came out to put pressure on the bowling. Balbirnie played steadily and expanded to play additional strokes once he became fifty. Despite their best efforts, Zimbabwe was unable to hold off on an uneven field. Tector and Tucker were dropped by Zimbabwe, which did not assist with their fielding either. Balbirnie, who hasn’t been his normal reliable self lately, persevered and won the game to lead his team home. Zimbabwe missed Ervine, Williams, and Burl for this game, and their lack of batting experience was evident.
