West Indies vs England: England Made an Astounding Comeback with 75-Run Win in 4th T20I

The 4th T20I of England tour of the West Indies was played on December 19, 2023. West Indies won the toss and opted to field first. For England, it was a day of sixes and records as England clinched a thrilling 75-run victory over the West Indies in the 4th T20I at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba. England’s Powerhouse Batting helped them in this mega win against West Indies. Openers Phil Salt (119) and Jos Buttler (55) laid the foundation with a blistering 117-run partnership in just 9.5 overs. Will Jacks (24) and Livingstone (54*) ensured consistent momentum throughout the innings. England posted a mammoth 267/3, the highest T20I score against the West Indies.

What a vicious performance of hitting from England! With such a huge score, the West Indies have their work cut out for them. They were set in motion by Buttler and Salt, who continued to draw boundaries as they saw fit. Against the flow of play, the English captain left, but Salt, who had just finished an undefeated century, maintained his excellent form. He may have been further motivated by the fact that he was unsold in the IPL auctions. He left the bowlers dumbfounded after smashing them all around the park. Jacks maintained the pace with a light cameo. With another outstanding century, Salt put the home team out of the match. And Livingstone took England past 250 as he ended with a flourish and scored fifty.

In response to this massive run target, West Indies fought back, but fell short.  Andre Russell hitting a six for West Indies. Andre Russell led the West Indies chase with a valiant 51 off 25 balls, including 5 sixes. Openers Kyle Mayers (12) and Brandon King (0) failed to provide a decent start. Also, the middle order failed to capitalize, and the West Indies were eventually bowled out for 192/10 in 15.3 overs.

The Windies also came out swinging. King tumbled off the opening ball. However, it didn’t seem to help that every batter who came in after that attempted to hit a monster shot every other ball. Pooran, Mayers, Rutherford, Hope, and others all made some progress, but none of them truly made a significant impact. Russell finished with a speedy fifty, but he still had a lot of work to do. The two best bowlers were Topley and Rashid, whose consistent strikes had a significant effect on the chase. In order to make 268 appear like too big of a bridge to cross, Buttler also did a great job rotating his bowlers.
